The wines, in a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, are crafted mainly from the vines planted on the clayey soils of the Saint-Emilion hillside. They are barrel-aged for 12 to 16 months, with 30% of new barrels each year.
Château La Bienfaisance is characterised by its splendid, deep, ruby red colour, its aromas of soft fruit. Concentrated and full-bodied on the palate, with a finish of silky, mellow tannins.
This is a supple, round, extremely fruity wine that can be equally enjoyed young thanks to the predominance of the Merlot grape.

«Among
the Saint-Emilions, La Bienfaisance
is a safe bet, one of the little
known châteaux which are
coming on strong alongside the
established names.»
